Hollywood, CA, United States (4E) - Conflicted as to whether or not to run for United States president in 2020, celebrity host Oprah Winfrey has turned to God for the final answer to this conundrum.

The news since January has been Oprah's denial of any presidential ambitions. That point of view seems to have changed recently, however.

The billionairess talk show host and philanthropist said a number of fellow billionaires are urging her to run, saying they can finance her finance her presidential campaign.

"I had people, wealthy, billionaires, calling me up and saying, 'I can get you a billion dollars. I can run your campaign,"' she said. "That many people saying something made me think, 'Am I at least supposed to look at the question?'"

Oprah said she "went into prayer" and asked God for guidance.

"God, if you think I'm supposed to run, you gotta tell me, and it has to be so clear that not even I can miss it. And I haven't gotten that," she said.

This is a marked turnaround from her previous stand, which was she's just not interested in running for president.

"I've always felt very secure and confident with myself in knowing what I could do and what I could not," said Oprah in December 2017. "And so it's not something that interests me. I don't have the DNA for it. ... That's not for me."

Oprah's best friend, CBS co-host Gayle King, said a 2020 campaign isn't the right thing for Oprah.

"Gayle, who knows me as well as I know myself practically, has been calling me regularly and texting me things, like a woman in the airport saying, 'When's Oprah going to run?' So Gayle sends me these things, and then she'll go, 'I know, I know, I know! It wouldn't be good for you ? it would be good for everyone else.'"

The uproar over Oprah's alleged presidential ambitions reached a peak during the 2018 Golden Globe awards in January where she gave a rousing speech many took as a sign of her desire to run.

Oprah gave her inspiring acceptance speech after becoming the first African-American woman to receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement. The award is bestowed by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for "outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment."

Oprah, an ardent Democrat, has been a voluble and long-time supporter of the Democratic Party and its goals. She counts former president Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, as among her closest friends.

Oprah formerly said she isn't interested in running for president. She reiterated this stand in October 2017 when asked about the 2020 presidential election.

"There will be no running for office of any kind for me," she said.
