Geneva, Switzerland (4E) - Jaguar I-Pace, the first production electric car from the iconic British sports car maker, will debut at the International Geneva Motor Show from March 8 to 18 but will first be revealed online on March 1 at 1:00 p.m. Eastern.

The real world reveal of this competitor to the Tesla Model X comes almost two years after the I-Pace concept car first appeared at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Jaguar said I-Pace will be equipped with a 100 kilowatt DC fast-charging system that can recharge the battery pack to 80 percent capacity in about 45 minutes. This compares to the Tesla Model X, which can be recharged to 80 percent of full capacity in only 30 minutes.

The I-Pace concept car had a 90 kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack, granting an estimated range of 220 miles. Front and rear electric motors provide all-wheel drive, and when combined can generate 400 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque.

Jaguar said the concept car is capable of going from 0 to 60 mph in around 4.0 seconds. The production car is expected to keep within this range.

The Tesla Model X, however, is a better performer. The base 75D has a range of 237 miles while the top-of-the-line P100D gets faster to 60 mph (2.9 seconds) than the I-Pace concept.

I-Pace might also cost less than the $85,500 base price of the Model X. Jaguar will begin taking orders for I-Pace on March 1.
