Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) - The creepy human-inhuman love story, The Shape of Water, took seven Golden Globe nominations but isn't expected to win all of them unlike La La Land, the happy and light hearted musical of 2016, which made history by becoming the first film to win all seven of the Golden Globes it received nominations for.

Directed, produced and written by Mexican film director, screenwriter, producer, and novelist Guillermo del Toro, The Shape of Water has been nominated for Best Drama; Best Director (del Toro); Best Screenplay (del Toro and Vanessa Taylor); Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture-Drama (Sally Hawkins); Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture (Richard Jenkins); Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture (Octavia Spencer) and Best Original Score (Alexandre Desplat).

The HBO drama "Big Little Lies" led the television nominees with six nominations at the 75th Golden Globe awards scheduled for Jan. 7, 2018 at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.

Produced by Dick Clark Productions in association with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the Golden Globes honor achievements in film and TV, both domestic and foreign. The golden Globes are traditionally seen as accurate indicators of the winners of the Academy Awards or Oscars.

The 90th Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), will honor the best films of 2017 and will take place on March 4, 2018 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles.

Talk-show host Seth Meyers will host the Golden Globes ceremony for the first time. The nominees were announced on Dec. 11 by Sharon Stone, Alfre Woodard, Kristen Bell and Garrett Hedlund.
