Los Angeles, CA, United States (NewsBahn) - Legendary Steely Dan co-founder Walter Becker has died at 67, according to numerous reports.

No further details were released on his death, which was announced Sunday on his website.

Becker was part of the classic rock group along with Donald Fagen, putting out several top-selling albums that were also favorites of music critics.

Fagen said he will continue to perform the duo's music for as long as she can with the group.

"Walter Becker was my friend, my writing partner and my bandmate since we met as students at Bard College in 1967," Fagen wrote. "He was smart as a whip, an excellent guitarist and a great songwriter. He was cynical about human nature, including his own, and hysterically funny.

Steely Dan has made or performed music for over four decades and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.
