Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) - Scarlett Johansson and her former husband, Romain Dauriac , are in the process of divorcing and during her interview with Playboy's March/April issue, she talked about how she feels about marriage and monogamy.
The interview is said to be before her split from Dauriac but it is unclear if this had anything to do with their decision to end their marriage. She said to the magazine, "Well, with every gain there's a loss, right? So that's a loss. You have to choose a path. I think the idea of marriage is very romantic; it's a beautiful idea, and the practice of it can be a very beautiful thing. I don't think it's natural to be a monogamous person. I might be skewered for that, but I think it's work. It's a lot of work."
Johansson said that the fact that it is a lot of work proves that it is not a natural thing but noted that marriage is something she has a lot of respect for and participated in. The 32-year-old actress also said she thinks marriage involves a lot of people who have nothing to do with their relationship and that it is a legally binding contract.
She also said that it is a lie when people say that being married is not different to not being married. She revealed she has friends who were together for 10 years then decided to get married and when she asked them if it was different, they would always say that it is.
The mother-of-one has been married twice. The first was with Ryan Reynolds, who is now married to Blake Lively. When asked about how the two marriages were different, Johansson revealed that it was a whole lot different for her second marriage because she and Dauriac , who she wed in 2014, have a baby together and the dynamic is different.
Johansson also said she never dated anyone when she was younger so she is a bad person to ask for dating advice. She confessed, "I would never want to be in my early 20s again, though I did a lot of fun stuff. I wish I knew that everything changes and that nothing is forever—except death. It probably would've freed up a lot of space in my brain."
However, she said she know a lot about mom love. She said mothers should let go of their expectations when it comes to toddlers and infants and let their instincts take control of the situation. She said that motherhood is very liberating.
The Playboy March/April issue will be out in the newsstands this February 28.
