Jupiter, FL, United States (4E Sports) - St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Alex Reyes underwent an MRI on his right arm after feeling a discomfort in his right elbow, the team announced Tuesday.
According to manager Mike Matheny , Reyes did not participate in a scheduled throwing session but said "there must be a significant reason" for the hurler to undergo the MRI, though he did not provide any additional details.
Earlier, Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said Reyes had not been cleared to throw by the team's medical staff.
"Rather than speculate on anything now, it's best just to wait until tomorrow when we get the [MRI] read," Moleziak said.
Reyes posted a 4-1 record with 52 strikeouts in 46 innings and a 1.67 ERA down the stretch last year for the Cardinals.
The right-hander was set to pitch in next month's World Baseball Classic for the Dominican Republic.
