Palm Beach Gardens, FL, United States (4E Sports) - Former world No. 1 Tiger Woods announced that he will not compete in the Genesis Open and The Honda Classic due to back spasms that he suffered in Dubai.

Woods pulled out of the Dubai Desert Classic before round 2 last week due to back spasms.

The Genesis Open will be played next week at Riviera while the Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida will tee off the following week.

"My doctors have advised me not to play the next two weeks, to continue my treatment and to let my back calm down," Woods announced on his official website. "This is not what I was hoping for or expecting."

"I am extremely disappointed to miss the Genesis Open, a tournament that benefits my foundation, and The Honda Classic, my hometown event. I would like to thank Genesis for their support, and I know we will have an outstanding week," he added.

Tiger is expected to travel to Los Angeles to attend and support the PGA TOUR event.

According to the website, Woods' possible playing schedule after Honda will be determined at a later date after his back is reassessed.
